Photoneedlepoint
I’m
interested in a phenomenon that includes everything approachable in our
civilisation (in contrast to the past) when pictures did not exist in amount
that exists today. Pictures that are everywhere in our surrounding,
(advertising, newspapers, calendar, web, etc…). That includes drawing and
painting, but because circumstance and culture that we live in, those are
mostly reproductions and kitsch pictures. I wanted to deal with theme which was
closely connected to me because gobelin and those kinds of pictures were the
view through the period of my infancy.
Bay the way
of assumption the gobelins like finished product, without the manipulating with
pictures I attempt to transfuse part of reality throughout family, surrounding,
expectation, traditional education where is expected from girls that they all
do needlework. In this project that I select to do, I accept system of value
and expectation, but I also change them to way of my personal conviction and
start to represent needlework with my camera, medium which is more closely to
me.
Through
mapping the gobelin as a part of personal tradition and history, connecting it
with contemporary as it is digital photography today, I wanted to point out
similarity between these two media. Needlepoint as a precursor to digital
photography where each pinprick can represent one-pixel dot on the picture,
sending a direct message that the different images and their photographs have
numerous meanings.
